  • Round pacifier nipple

The round nipple is the traditional pacifier shape and is designed to resemble the shape of a mother's breast during  breastfeeding. Its rounded shape provides a familiar and natural feel for many babies.

FRIGG round pacifiers have a round shield that complements the nipple shape.

  • Symmetrical pacifier nipple

A symmetrical nipple has a slightly flattened, teardrop shape. Unlike an anatomical nipple, it is designed to be used in either direction, meaning there is no specific top or bottom.

The flatter shape is designed to reduce pressure on the palate and gums, while the symmetrical shield makes it easy to position the pacifier correctly.

  • Anatomical pacifier nipple

An anatomical nipple is shaped to follow the natural contours of the baby's mouth. It has a flattened shape and a more defined top and bottom.

Because an anatomical pacifier is designed to be positioned in a specific direction, the shield is shaped to help you see which way the pacifier should be placed in your baby's mouth.

Not sure which nipple shape to choose?

Choosing your baby's first pacifier can be a little overwhelming, especially for new parents. With different nipple shapes and materials to choose from, how do you know which one your baby will prefer?

That's why we created FRIGG Baby's First Pacifier, a 4-pack designed especially for newborns. The set includes all three FRIGG nipple shapes and both nipple materials, giving you the opportunity to try different options from the very beginning.

The 4-pack contains:

  • Round nipple in natural rubber (latex)
  • Round nipple in silicone
  • Symmetrical nipple in silicone
  • Anatomical nipple in silicone

This means you can introduce your baby to all three nipple shapes and both available materials for round nipples, and see which one your baby prefers.

It's a simple way for new parents to explore the different options without having to decide on one nipple shape or material before knowing what their baby likes best. The set is available in size 1 (0–6 months) and is designed specifically for newborns.

How to choose the right pacifier for your baby

When choosing a pacifier, nipple shape is only one factor to consider. You can also look at nipple material, pacifier size and your baby's individual preference.

  • 1. Consider the nipple shape

Think about whether you want a traditional round nipple or a flatter symmetrical or
    anatomical shape.

If you are unsure which shape your baby will
prefer, trying more than one can be helpful. FRIGG Baby's First Pacifier is specifically designed to make this easier by giving newborns the opportunity to try all three nipple shapes in one 4-pack.

  • 2. Choose between silicone and natural rubber

FRIGG pacifiers are available with nipples made from silicone or natural rubber
    (latex)
    .

    Silicone
is a smooth, taste- and odour-neutral material that does not absorb moisture and retains its shape during everyday use. It is also suitable for babies with a sensitivity to natural rubber.

    Natural rubber (latex)
is a natural, soft and flexible material that gradually adapts to your baby's sucking pattern. It has a soft and familiar feel that many babies enjoy.

Both materials have their own characteristics, so the choice often comes down to your baby's preference and your family's needs.

  • 3. Choose the right pacifier size

FRIGG pacifiers are available in different sizes to suit different stages of your baby's development.

    Size 1
is designed for babies from 0–6 months, while size 2 is designed for babies from 6+ months.

Always check the individual product information for the recommended age and size before choosing a pacifier.

Why does the pacifier shield match the nipple shape?

At FRIGG, the shape of the shield is not only part of the design. It also helps you understand how the pacifier should be positioned.

A round nipple has a matching round shield, while a symmetrical nipple has a symmetrical shield that can be positioned either way.

An anatomical nipple has a shield with a clear top and bottom, helping you recognise the correct direction.

This makes it easier for parents to understand how each pacifier is intended to be used.

  • What is the valve inside a pacifier nipple?

All FRIGG pacifier nipples have a built-in valve.

When your baby sucks on the pacifier, air can escape through the valve, allowing the nipple to flatten and adapt to the shape of the mouth.

The valve also explains why a small amount of water can sometimes get inside the nipple after cleaning or sterilising the pacifier. If this happens, simply squeeze the nipple flat to remove the excess water.

  • What if my baby does not like the pacifier?

It is completely normal for babies to have individual preferences.

A baby who does not accept one pacifier does not necessarily dislike pacifiers altogether. They may simply prefer a different nipple shape, material or size.

If your baby does not seem comfortable with the pacifier you have chosen, you can try another nipple shape or material and see if your baby responds differently.

For parents introducing a pacifier for the first time, Baby's First Pacifier can be an easy way to explore the different options without having to choose just one.

  • Which FRIGG pacifier nipple is right for your baby?

There is no universal answer to which pacifier nipple is best. Every baby is different, and what works well for one baby may not be the right choice for another.

The round nipple offers a traditional, rounded shape. The symmetrical nipple has a flatter, teardrop-shaped design that can be used in either direction. The anatomical nipple follows the contours of the mouth and is designed to be positioned in one specific direction.

The best place to start is by considering the characteristics of each shape and then paying attention to what your baby prefers.

If you are a new parent and are unsure where to start, FRIGG Baby's First Pacifier 4-pack gives your newborn the opportunity to try all three nipple shapes and both nipple materials.

Whether you choose round, symmetrical or anatomical, FRIGG offers pacifiers in a wide range of colours, designs, materials and sizes.
